Abstract

The pin is double ended. It has a solid centre with a shoulder (4) near its centre. Each end has radial fins (5) of a diameter greater than each cylindrical housing hole (2). When driven into one of the parts to be fixed (1) the fins deform. The angle then presented by the deformed fins to the cylinder wall tends to prevent removal of the pin. The second part to be secured is then driven on to the second half and a similar result is obtained. The shoulder bearns against the periphery of the hole in the first part to limit penetration of the pin before the second part is secured.
