Abstract

The fertiliser distributor (4) is mounted on a tractor 3-point linkage (2 and 3). A bag lifting mechanism (7) pivoted at (9) on two pillars (8) bolted to the tractor rear axle has two spars (10) separated by cross members (12 and 13) to form the crane jib which is raised and lowered by twin rams (14) driven from the tractor hydraulic system. The bag is attached by a slip knot to the crane rope and when the jib is raised sufficiently the rope is caught in a hook (18) on cross-member (13). The bag is then lowered on to the hopper, where its base is cut either by the operator with a knife or by a spigot on the top of the hopper. If the bag contains more than the hopper will take, it remains on the hopper empties gradually.
