Abstract
The cylindrical air preheater encloses a cellular core with series of ducts on the outer side. Pairs of electrical conductors in parallel are fitted around circular paths between adjacent hot and cold heat end faces. The conductors are separated along their length by a semiconductor material with predetermined characteristics. These are designed to provide a high electrical resistance at normal working temps. with a sudden drop in resistivity at a danger threshold temp. The conductors then pass a pulse of electricity which triggers the fire alarm. The design is economical and monitors all areas of the chamber where combustible waste particles can be deposited during operation.
