Abstract

A diode multiplier stack for generating high direct voltages consists of a series of bar shaped selenium rectifiers (1-5) whose longitudinal axis are mounted zig zag fashion in a housing. Both the ac and the dc sides have capacitor banks at the junctions to produce the doubling of the voltages. A multiple capacitor bank (6, 7) is mounted in a parallel plane at the end of each structural cycle of the selenium rectifiers. The housing is made from moulded resin on a polyester base forming it into a block (8). The junctions of the rectifiers are mounted in cavities in the housing walls.
