Abstract

The attachment comprises two or more assemblies (10, 11) for driving the chain, with mating faces so as to form a chain sprocket when assembled, locking devices securing them together on the shaft. Each unit can consist of three or more sub-assemblies (12, 13, 14) in the shape of relatively flat half rings, the first two being identical and mounted opposite each other round the winch shaft, while the third is secured against them. Sockets are incorporated in the first two to accommodate the chain links. The equipment is particularly for small pleasure-craft, enabling a standard rope winch also to be used for hauling in the anchor chain etc.
