Abstract

A blow moulder has an extension head mounted on a carriage movable along a frame between two extrusion positions at each of which is provided a blow mould formed by pairs of half-moulds which can be moved together around a blank produced by the extrusion head. At each extrusion position a blower nozzle can be inserted into the closed blow mould by a ram to effect blow moulding of the blank. The outermost half-moulds of the two blow moulds are connected and movable together in one direction whilst the adjacent half-moulds of the two blow moulds are also movable together in the opposite direction whereby one blow mould is opened to release the finished article whilst the other blow mould is closed. The device is used for blow moulding bottles, containers, etc. The moulded articles are produced automatically at high production rates.
