Abstract

The design is for use on disc brakes or wheel brake shoes on motor vehicles. The plates press the lining against the disc when the braking force is exerted. The plates each have a thickness of .3 - 1.5 mm, typically 1 mm. All have the same thickness and are glued, welded, clamped or riveted together. The plates can be enclosed in two outer plate covers and these can have zones where they meet and are welded or joined together. The cover plates are at least as thick as the backing plates. The design can be used on toroidal shape plates as well as normal disc brakes or drum brakes.
