Abstract

The container is for the successive storage or transport of incompatible substances, without the necessity of cleaning before changing contents. The container is formed by two flanged halves (2a, 2b) bolted together (5) and separated by a flexible, impermeable membrane (4). Each of the two sections so formed has a filler opening (6a, 6b) and a drain point with a control valve (8, 9). When liquid, granular or powdered material is introduced into one section, the membrane deforms, allowing the full cross-section of the container to be used. The other section can be used later without cleaning the first section. Filling one side automatically purges the other side of inflammable vapour. Two or more membrane can be used, forming three or more usable sections.
