Abstract

The data is in the form of sensibly gaussian pulses of which the parameters, amplitude and average quadratic deviation vary over a very large range of values. The circuit measures the instant when the peak occurs and also the pulse are a w.r.t. a reference signal when no pulses occur. The circuit comprises a converter, transforming the analyser signals into trains of pulses whose frequency is proportional to amplitude and a scope detector (4). Drift correction of the base line is applied and an associated pulse counter circuit (622) may be inhibited by the output of one of two integrators during a short or much longer time period giving an indication of the pulse area.
