Abstract

The bogie is particularly for metre-gauge railways, having a rocking cross-member flexibly coupled to its frame and carrying the swivel joint to the truck frame. The joint incorporates a preloaded cross-roll slewing ring with rollers (19) mounted between two races (17, 18) and the top face of the cross-member is widened to support the lower race of the ring on its entire surface. The widened portions can consist of brackets welded to opposite sides of the cross-member, and strengthened by angle-pieces welded to their undersides and to the sides of the member. The top face of the latter can have a circular seat machined out to the diameter of the lower ring race, which is bolted to it.
