Abstract

The tape appts. includes means which, in response to the initiation of the automatic loading cycle, cause the take-up reel (7) to be rotated in the tape winding direction. The hub of the take-up reel (7) is associated with suction means (8) causing a laminar air jet, which is adjacent the supply reel (2), to be actuated simultaneously or slightly in advance of the reel rotation, to aid or initiate the rotation of the supply reel (2) in the rewind direction. A photoelectric detector (31) detects when the tape end enters the guide conduit (21) between the two reels (2, 7) and the output signal from the detector (31) is used to reverse the direction of rotation of the motor (5) and to cut-off the air jet.
