Abstract

The single piece plug and socket is in the form of a jack and female receptor, in which the receptor carries, on one side, a ratchet or sprung metal catch trapping the jack by sliding on entry over a sloped surface and facing a step thus preventing withdrawal when the plug is homed, this homing point being determined by a shoulder on the jack controlling the depth to which the jack may be inserted. The socket carries on the opposite side to the ratchet a sprung contact intruding into an annular groove on the plug such that on the entry of the plug it maintains contact with the plug. The receptor is mounted in a hole through a moulded synthetic resin plate, a counterbore of the hole receiving the sprung contact.
