Abstract

The press is used for the production of multicoloured labels with the web drawn from a roll by a reciprocating feeder, while the blanket cylinder rotates continuously. The blanket covers only part of the cylinder circumference, the remaining part of the cylinder is left out of contact with the impression cylinder. The blanket cylinder is surrounded by plate cylinders with their separate inking units. The conversion of the stepwise feed of the web into a continuous motion is made possible with compensation rollers reciprocating with its axis parallel to the printing cylinders due to engagement of its two end gears with racks. In addition, the web forms a loop hanging on rollers due to decompression in the chamber underneath it.
