Abstract

Two arms (6, 7) with jaws (8, 9) at their ends are mounted on a shaft (12) carried in a support (13). When it is required to change tools, the jaws grip the old and replacement tools which are respectively in the tool-head (1) and the magazine (3). The slide (16) moves the block (13) forward, removing the tools from their locations. Rotation of the shaft (19) turns the two gears (14, 15). The number of teeth on the gear (14) on the shaft between the arms is twice that on the driving gear (15). The block (13) therefore rotates through 180 deg. while the arms rotate through 90 deg. This reverse the position of the arm. Moving the slide rearwards places the changed tools in the tool head and magazine.
