Abstract

A bed-settee normally has a cushion or similar, against which the user rests his lumbar region, which has to be removed before the settee is transformed into a bed. In the present model, the cushion is part of the settee and instead of being removed it will be re-positioned to form a pillow. The main advantagees of this built-in mechanism are an improvement in its aesthetics due to reduced width of the settee back and it conceals the fact that the settee is a bed, the fact that the cushion is attached to the settee. The lower settee frame typically unfolds to form a flat bed type support surface.
