Abstract
The transmission system is particularly for a tracked vehicle, having an input shaft coupled to the engine and two output shafts coupled to the right and left hand tracks respectively. A mechanical drive comprising conventional and epicyclic gear trains is fitted between input and output shafts, also a hydrostatic converter. This comprises three sections of variable capacity and hydraulically interconnected, each coupled by a shaft to the mechanical drive. One of these serves the right and the other the left output shaft, and the third is common. The mechanical drive can have two epicyclic gear trains connected to the input shaft, one output shaft and the respective hydrostatic section, while the common hydrostatic section is coupled direct to the input shaft.
