Abstract

Gases, esp. the exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine, can be purified by subjecting the gas to vortex flow so that the components are separated according to their specific gravities; this results in several concentric zones of different gases; combustion air is introduced and the mixture is ignited. Pref. some fuel is introduced into the vortex chamber to assist combustion; this is only done at low speeds, above the idling speed but below the speed at which adequate combustion, esp. of CO takes place. The enrichment of the air or gas with fuel may be effected by blocking the flow of additional air into the motor carburettor. Enrichment may be regulated by a revolutions counter so that it occurs in a speed between idling and 1,700 rpm.
