Abstract

The first half of the buckle is secured to a section of the belt attached at the other end to an anchor point, while another belt section is secured at both ends to anchor points, and in between passes through a jamming device on the other buckle half, and then through a length adjusting mechanism. The two buckle halves incorporate components working together so as to engage the jamming device (17) positively when they are engaged with each other, and free it when they are parted. The components can be elastic devices operated by simple engagement of the two buckle halves.
