Abstract

An electronic method of controlling the combustion air fed to an internal combustion engine, when the carbon monoxide in the exhaust gases increases. A probe is fitted in the exhaust system of the engine and operates from the accelerator pedal. When the engine slows down contact (21) is closed and the valve (19) is opened. This in turn to the exhaust system upstream of the probe. This in turn controls the mxiture by providing less fuel. On speeding up the engine, contact (24) closes. This opens valve (23) and this in turn provides additional fuel to the engine.
