Abstract

The low-noise digital telecommunications system converts amplitude of the analog information signals into a digital code for transmission. At the transmitter, clock pulses are counted and the sum converted into an analog signal whose amplitude is then compared with the information signal's amplitude sample. When the converted signal's amplitude is signal to the information signal's, the coupling process is stopped and the contents transmitted as the digital code. At the receiver, the n-bits of transmitted information are converted into p-bits (p>n): The sequence of levels chosen for the p-bits is such that the distance between two consecutive level is least. The p-bits are then converted into an analog output signal.
