Abstract

Fluids mixing machine having a tubular, cylindrical body clamped between two end plates to form a mixing chamber housing an externally powdered rotary mixing head dye of the end plates having a passage, pref. axial, leading into the chamber from supply connections for materials to be mixed, while the other end plate has a passage pref. axial, by which mixed materials leave the chamber. Pref. the mixing head comprises a rotor secured to the end of a shaft which extends through the supply passage to a drive motor, the rotor carrying pegs extending axially between rows of fixed pegs which extend axially into the chamber from the inlet end plate. High shear mixer suitable for dispersing heavy concentrations of powders in liquids partic., for industries such as paint, plastics, adhesives, chemicals and foods. The construction is very simple and inexpensive and lends itself to rapid dismantling and reassembly to facilitate cleaning, servicing and changing mixing heads. Standard end plates can be combined chamber bodies of various lengths to give a range of chamber capacities, each housing a suitable mixing head.
