Abstract

The metal sheet, for example, to be pressed is conveyed by rollers whose advance is controlled by a rack and pinion mechanism. The end of the rack is pivotally carried between a yoke (5) whose base receives a square section shaft (3(a)) which has cylindrical extensions. A knurled sleeve abuts a shoulder of the extensions and has a threaded outer surface such that rotation of the sleeve causes axial movement of the shaft. The shaft does not extend axially w.r.t. the extensions or a surrounding sleeve (3) and this axial movement causes fine rotation of the yoke which is transmitted as a fine adjustment of the rack and a fine advance or retard of the rollers. Coarse adjustment may be effected by a crank connected directly to the surrounding sleeve.
