Abstract

Liquid products with a temporary lubricating action comprises a dispersion of a solid with a low coefft. of friction (e.g. finely divided graphite or MoS2) and an ionic surface activator (e.g. a salt of Ag, Cu or Mo) in ethanol. Dispersions of graphite or MoS2 and Cu salts in chlorinated solvents (e.g. 1,1,1-trichloroethane) have a tendency to form sediments; this does not occur when EtOH is used (e.g. no pptn. is observed over a period of >=6 months). The specification is an addition to 72.26743, in which dispersions in a volatile solvent (e.g. chlorinated solvents) are described.
