Abstract
Iron-nickel base alloys for the prodn. of shadown masks and bimetallic thermo compensator strips in colour television tubes have compsn. generally 30-45% Ni; 0-2.5% Mn; 0-2% Si; 0-2% C; 0-8% Co; 0-11% Cr; 0-3% W; bal Fe. For shadown masks the desired coefficient of expansion for the chosen alloy must be pref. 0.6-1.2 x 10-6/degrees C between 20-80 degrees C and for the thermo compensator mounting pref 10-20 x 10-6/degrees C. Several ranges of compsn are possible.
