Abstract
The fluidised bed is in two sections; an upper part which is strongly fluidised and heated by an external heater, supported by a core shaped perforated support, and a smaller dia. lower part, moderately fluidised and connected with the upper part. Material which will not pyrolyse migrates to the lower part and is periodically removed. The solid is fed continuously by a sccrew with a trap fitted some way along to prevent gas escaping.
