Abstract

Sintered ceramic bodies, e.g. for use in heat-exchangers or as catalysts carriers for i.c. engine exhaust gas treatment contg. cordierite as the main crystal phase are treated with a mineral acid to selectively remove MgO and Al2O3 thereby improving the thermal shock resistance.
