Abstract
Intended principally for mechanisms in which sudden reversals occur as in lifts and lifting gear systems, incorporates within a co-axial coupling housing an automatically operated hydrodynamic braking system for transmission shaft between driving motor and reversing mechanism. This braking system includes a pair of shafts with coupling sleeves on their ends which are urged axially towards each other by Bellville washers. Between the sleeves is an plate which has inclined bearing surfaces carrying balls engaging complementary inclined bearing surfaces on the sleeves.
