Abstract
A nuclear reactor charging machine comprises a trolley running on rails on the top of the core shielding and has an upper frame portion which supports the operating mechanisms and a series of concentric extension tubes below. The tubes can move axially but are constrained to only a small angular movement, w.r.t. the top frame. the whole can be rotated relative to the trolley, so that the tool fitted to the bottom of the extension tube can operate on any fuel element in the core.
