Abstract

The compsn. comprises an emulsion contng. 92-97% (wt.) of an aq. dispersion of a styrene-butadiene-acrylate ester random copolymer and 8-3% of a PVA aq. soln. The dispersion itself contains 30-70% of the copolymer and the PVA soln. contains 20-40% PVA and 80-60% water. The compsn. forms thick, flexible and glossy films at room temps. without shrinkage or cracking and the film can even have a convex surface which enhances its gloss. The compsn. can be used on wood, glass, cardboard, metal, plastics, clay etc. and is partic. for producing stained glass windows and panels, opt. with support, for sealing porous substrates, for moulding and painting blanks in artistic and educative toys and games.
