Abstract

The compsn. is obtained by shaking and boiling an aq. mixture of sucrose, hydrolysed cereal solids of 10-15 dextrose equiv. and an emulsifier to 122 degrees C, cooling to 114 degrees C while adding 3-10 wt. % (of the finished product) of an essential oil to form a homogeneous melt and extruding, into a cooler liquid solvent, to form rods which are then broken into the required lengths. The rods, from which excess oil has been removed, are centrifuged to remove the solvent, mixed with up to 0.5 wt. % of finely divided pyrogenic SiO2, screened and dried.
