Abstract

In an ind. cooling system, corrosion is checked and solid deposits are prevented by adding to the system 1 - 50 (5 - 20) ppm P2O5 as phosphoric acid, or alkali metal (poly)phosphates, 1 - 50 (2 - 20) ppm Zn as Zn salt, and 1 - 100 (10 - 50) ppm of a poly(meth)acrylic acid or a copolymer of (meth)acrylic acid and an alkyl ester of (meth)acrylic acid in which the alkyl gp. is 12 C and may contain a N (IV) atom, esp. with mol. wt. 200 - 500,000 (1000 - 50,000). The anti - corrosion and anti - scale compsn. can be used at a pH and water hardness at which pptn. of Ca phosphate normally occurs.
