Abstract

Thread of plastic screw for engaging with a nut or hole having a continuous thread is characterised by the outwardly projecting tops or sides of the thread corresp. to the corresp. parts of the nut and surrounding the shank with the same pitch, while the distance between the tops is equal to double or a multiple of the pitch of the thread, the enlarged base thus obtd. being rounded, and a stagger in height (axial) being effected at each interval alpha of 360 degrees or 180 degrees of the helix, the thread being staggered at the level of this stagger over a distance corresp. to the outwardly projecting tops or sides. The plastic screw shows a good resistance to forces in the grooves between the outwardly projecting sides of the thread. The screw can be made with a relatively small dia. thus saving material.
