Abstract
All the solid materials are cooled below 0 degrees C while retaining their particle size and compsn., and the water is converted to broken-up ice, followed by cold mixing in the required proportions, And then storing and distributing as required by insulated or refrigerated transport means. The temp. is opt. 0 to -40 degrees C (-5 to -20) degrees C. The cooling is opt. performed in a fluidized bed e.g. by cold air. The sand and gravel are opt. cooled in a vessel by passage of a soln. of a set-retarding salt e.g. CaCl2. On reheating, the inert mix forms the usual semi-liquid paste, ready for use.
