Abstract

To remove oil and condensate, compressed air is passed through a refrigerated coil in a separator vessel which has internal partitions to carry the incoming air through a heat exchanging circuit with chilled air leaving the coil, which thus precools the incoming air on its way to the coil. Previously, the partitions have taken the form of open baffles and there was a danger of by-pass flow; this is now obviated by employing fully sealed partitions, and the separator's efficiency is thus enhanced to improve the quality of treated air.
