Abstract

Quat. ammonium cpds of formula: (where R1 is 10-14C alkyl, R2 and R3 are indep. (m)ethyl and X is Cl or Br) are used as additives to reduce the viscosity of plasticising compsns. contg. (a) 1 mole of amidoamine salt of formula: R-CONH (CH2)n- N circled positive (CH3)2 H A circled negative (where R is 15-21C alkyl, n is 2 or 3, A is an anion) and (b) 0.2-1.0 mole of carboxylic acid R COOH, where R is an atom. The compns are used for softening, brightening and imparting antistatic props to textiles formed from natural and synthetic fibres. Their low viscosity allows rapid dilution and use in treatment baths.
