Abstract
Protective layer, for photographic products, contng. a polycarbonate and silica particles. The polycarbonate pref. has a glass transition temperature >150 degrees C. and the structure n is >10, R1 to R8 are H, Cl or Br, X is cycloaliphatic with the benzene rings linked to the same C atom. The silica particles are pref. 1-100 nm. used in amt. silica 0.22-2.7 mg. and polycarbonate 5.4-32 mg. per dm2. Pref. used for a silver halide emulsion layer, particularly for a thermodevelopable product using a silver halide, a silver salt oxidant and a reducing agent with polyvinylbutyral as binder. The layer gives better resistance to abrasion, finger marks, etc. than ethyl cellulose.
