Abstract

In a long sieve papermaking machine of the type provided with a pulp feed having a feed nozzle with upper and lower lips and in which the long sieve is guided over a curved imperforate support surface in the region of the feed nozzle. (a) a sheet acting as an extension of the lower lip of the nozzle is fitted between the lip and sieve terminating close to the latter, there being a continuous transition between pulp guiding surfaces of the lower lip and the extension sheet, (b) the sheet terminates in the region of the curved support surface, with its pulp guiding surface running more or less tangentially to the sieve at the point thereon where the stream of pulp is incident, (c) the sieve support surface is constructed in known manner as a fixed water-impermeable sieve table, with the end zone of this support surface making a maximum angle of 165 degrees with the surface connected thereto.
