Abstract

The greasy particles in suspension in the effluent are sepd. before the latter is subjected to biological purificn. The greasy particles are sepd. by flotation, their entrainment at the surface being accelerated by blowing compressed air into the effluent or by surface aeration with a turbine. Suitable means are used for considerably increasing the chances of the particles meeting the air bubbles. The sepn. yield of the particles is increased to two to three times that obtd. with conventional plants operating by density differences. The treatment tank may be made of reinforced plastic or concrete. A turbine creastes circulating currents and an annular zone is provided in an inner tank for the collection and evacuation of the greasy particles.
