Abstract

Small amts. of iron (e.g. 1 ppm) can be removed from water used for drinking, prodn. of beer, in the food ind. etc., using a cation exchange resin in the Ca2+ - form; the resin can be regenerated by treatment with a Na salt soln. or HCl, and converted again into the Ca2+ - form by treatment with a Ca salt soln. or the iron-free water having sufficient hardness. The iron content can be reduced to 0.01-0.05 mg/l.
