Abstract

A knitted yarn is formed from a yarn of natural fibres (e.g. cotton) and an elasticated bicomponent gimped yarn having a synthetic elasticated core yarn (e.g. polyurethane) and a false twisted gimp yarn (e.g. polyamide) wrapped around the core yarn in the same direction as the inserted false-twist. Pref. the core yarn is stretched 3-5 times before gimping and pref. the gimp yarn constitutes 60-80 wt.% of the bicomponent gimped yarn. The natural fibres yarn may constitute 30-75 wt.% of the fabric.
