Abstract

Microwave oven partic. for rapid and cooking, blanching, sterilising, drying, thawing etc. of foodstuffs. The oven has entry and exit door-ways and a conveyor to move the product into the oven, hold it there for processing and then bring it out through the exit, both doors being fully closed during the processing period; pref. the energy source, e.g. klystron, cannot be energised if either door is even slightly open, this being detected by microswitches. No radiation escapes from the oven and it is impossible for an operator to insert his hand while the power is on.
