Abstract

In the prepn. of pigmented images by exposing imagewise a photohardenable polymeric layer contg. a pigment and then eliminating the unexposed zones with a stripping solvent, the solvent used has a b.pt. >=200 degrees C. In prior art a light solvent was used, e.g. trichloroethylene which tends to dissolve or swell the hardened zones resulting in lack of image sharpness and necessitates prolonged exposure, in the present method these drawbacks are overcome. Process is for general applications but particularly for prepn. of colour television screens and mono- or poly-chrome images or ceramic supports. Pref. solvents are e.g. ethyl-adipate, -azelate and/or succinate.
