Abstract

A scintillation collimator of unit construction in which pre-formed thin metal sheets with parallel trapezoidal flutes are assembled to form a honeycomb structure of small thin walled hexagonal holes. The upper and lower walls of each flute forming the contact faces are pressed together with an interface adhesive. Alignment of the flutec during assembly being maintained by rods inserted in the end grooves of the structure. Limitation of the radiation beam to the required effective field is obtained by inserting metal absorbers in the holes external to the field. Flute configuration and plate material are variable according to the collimator resolution and sensitivity requirements.
