Abstract

A tube sheet, esp. for use as a partition between successive chambers of a "multi-flash" evaporator for sea-water parification, comprises a sheet of e.g. Hypalon (RTM) rubber, sandwiched between two bolted stainless steel sheets. The tripile sheet is lightly bolted together, and drilled with tube holes, then bolts are tightened to compress rubber, so that holes are slightly smaller than tubes, which can then be introduced, pref. moistened, as gas tight seal being thus formed. No adhesive is required for construction, and registration problems arising when sheets are drilled separately are avoided. Tube sheets are easily dismantled for maintenance if necessary.
