Abstract
The fuse consists of a main pyrotechnic train (igniter initiator, gain) with inter. arming shutters, leading to the main igniter in the munition proper. Two resistor-capacitor-thyristor type delay circuits within the fuse are used to fire, in turn, two separate electric igniters. The first of these is fired by the first delayed discharge of the first stage capacitor, a predetermined time after release or launch of the store from the aircraft and this lights a powder train gas generator which drives a transverse piston across the body of the fuse to open the first shutter in the path between the initiator and the gain. At the same time this piston in moving snaps off the closed end of a safety tube between the gain and the firing channel from the initiator, and fires a percussion sensitive charge which triggers the discharge of a second delay circuit which in its turn fires the second electric igniter to start the pyrotechnic chain and ignite the main store after a preset delay which can be adjusted prior to release.
