Abstract

The 3-sulpho-6-hydroxypyridone-(2) gp. has the formula : (where R and R1 are each H, alkyl, aryl or heterocyclic gp.) and is linked via an azo bridge to the residue of a diazo component of the heterocyclic or aromatic series, the dyes so formed being opt. metallised. Prepd. by coupling pref. a 3-sulpho-1:4-di-alkyl-6-hydroxypyridone-(2) with a suitable coupling component, esp. of the benzene series, and opt. metallising.
