Abstract

Air permeable composite sheet incorporates a hydrophobic layer as a barrier for liquids, a barrier for aerosol particles and an absorbent layer. Pref. the absorbent layer is protected by a covering tissue (40g/m2 polyamide). Pref. the hydrophobic layer is a nylon fabric (e.g. 70g/m2) treated with a fluorinated resin. Pref. the aerosol barrier is a (non-woven) mat of glass fibre. Pref. the absorbent layer is an open cell synthetic sponge loaded with particles of finely divided activated carbon. Esp. for mfr. of covers or filters to exclude or collect atmospheric impurities with a press. drop for air moving at 0.5m/s was 50 to 100mm. water.
