Abstract

Crystalline product and a mother liquor that can be utilised without any further processing are simultaneously produced by reacting sodium trimetaphosphate with NaOH and KOH at 60-100 degrees C for 2-60 mins., under conditions such that P2O5 concn. in the starting mixture is 20-30 wt.% (pref. 25-28 wt.%) and the atomic ratio Na : K is pref. 1.5-5.25. Both the crystalline product and the mother liquor can used in washing or cleaning compsns.
