Abstract

Paint scourer comprises a paste or pulp of a mixture of NaOH and a powder which is practically insol. in water and inert w.r.t. NaOH. The mixture can be spread over a paint film so that it forms a thin adhesive coating. The NaOH content of the mixture is >=1.5, pref. 4 wt.%. Painted surfaces can be cleaned to leave them suitable for varnishing or polishing. Vertical surfaces can also be treated.
