Abstract

Resonance box is fitted on the outer circumference of an elongated heat exchanger to serve as a frequency damper and phase displacer which will prevent standing wave noises, vibrations and fatigue stresses which may otherwise a rise in gas circuits including a source of vibrations. The box may be dome-shaped, cylindrical or any other suitable shape and has a communicating passage through into the shell of the heat exchanger. Since the box is attached to the outside of the exchanger, it does not increases the flow resistance of the gas circuit.
